Geology field trip

So yesterday, I went with fellow classmates on a field trip to Oklahoma, around the Turner Falls area. Throughout all of the years that I lived in Oklahoma, I'd never been there. It was a fun trip, despite the constant raining and the bus driver insisting on keeping the bus as cold as a freezer! Anyway.. here are some random pictures that I took:

Sunrise @ UTA

While walking to the Geo Science building to meet in the morning before loading onto the bus, I noticed this view and liked it.

Surrounding area of the falls

The area along the falls...

Closeup of some of the rocks that made up the overlook...along with more of the falls area in the background.

Random stop along the highway

Random stop we made along the highway to look at more rocks and their formation!

Random view of the sky on the way back to Arlington...really this was an attempt to get my mind off of how incredibly cold I was in the bus!

Another view of the sky that I captured...the reflections from the window kinda ruins it though. -.-

Flowers and an Old Mill

Well, it's been longer than I had hoped... I got my camera back awhile ago...just have been sorta lazy in getting the most recent pics on here. =P Sorry bout that. Anyway.. here goes.

These photos are from March 2007 when I traveled to Arkansas for some family birthday celebrations.

The first batch is from this place called Wye Mountain...where alot of beautiful yellow lilies pop up everywhere and it's just pretty. It was the first time I'd ever been there.

This is an overlook of all of the flowers across the hills...this was close to easter so there were a ton of people with their little kids all dressed up and sitting in the flowers with their parents taking Easter photos. It was so cute!

Just another angle I found while trying to capture the flowers...I was trying to get a shot where there were no people crowded in the photo.

The closeup!

These next photos are of the old mill that is located near my aunt and uncle's house. I just thought it was neat. It is said to have been in one of the scenes from the movie, Gone With the Wind!

The mill. Pretty self-explanatory =P

The bridge a little ways down from the mill. I just thought it looked cool.

The view as you're walking over the bridge..would have looked alot better if that port-a-potty wasn't in the way! Hah.

just a little update

So after coming back from my trip to Arkansas to visit family, I'm driving back to Texas, passing Norman, Oklahoma, when I realize...I left my camera in my brother's car. It was too late for me to go back to OKC to try and recover it. So as of right now, it's sitting at my mom's house, waiting for me to come pick it up at the end of April when I am planning on making another trip to Oklahoma City.

So no photos from me for awhile. :P

SNOW!!

Hello again. I woke up this morning to find that it was lightly snowing outside! I got so excited that I had to take pictures, of course. Here they are:

Here are our (mine and Keith's) cars covered in snow!

Closeup of the front view of my car.

Closeup of Keith's front view of his car.

The outside view of my apartment...we didn't get enough snow to completely cover the ground, but still it was the first time there was enough to actually STICK to the ground..so I thought it was important. heh.

The picture above was taken outside of the UTA bookstore, which I found out was closed due to the weather, after I'd driven all the way up there to change out my books for my history class, because I'd gotten the wrong ones. It really made me mad, because the roads weren't even bad AT ALL.

So, after seeing that the bookstore was closed, Keith and I decided to walk around campus and get some snowy, wintery pictures, while we were already up there.

Just a random shot that I thought was pretty.

This is a cool fountain located outside of the University Hall building, where my history and government classes are held. I liked how you can see the ice that built up around the design.

Another random capture of the path we were walking along.

Now this is a building that I just like. Most of all, its shape. It's designed like a triangle and this view is looking from one of the sharp angles. I believe the name of the building is Packard Hall. (But don't quote me on that...I'm still learning the names of the buildings and where they all are...)

This is something that caught our eyes just by walking by. Someone had created this heart in the snow, out of footsteps in the shape of a heart. It was pretty cool to see in person.

heh...this is my attempt at writing "I ♥ Keith" in the snow. I had forgotten my gloves in the car, so my finger was getting kinda numb by the time I reached "h."

This was a mini-snowman that we saw just as we were driving into my apartment complex ... and I thought it was too cute, so I had to get a picture...

beginning a new year

Keith and I went back to my hometown of Oklahoma City to visit my mom for New Year's Eve day. She was recovering from surgery, and I really wanted to give her a hug, since my brother was too "busy" with his own life to just take a few minutes of his time to come over and do that. I drive 3 hours out of my way just to give her a simple hug, when she needed it. It makes me so mad how football and friends come before family, in my brother's case. But anyway...that's not what this post is meant to be about. On with the pics:
We started out our day-trip by getting gas at RaceTrac. It was really close to 7am when this photo was taken, and I just happened to look at the sky and this is the result. It had a sort of ominous feel to it, which I assume was very fitting, considering what my new year's ended up to be...

Keith doesn't like it when I drive with no hands on the wheel. heh. I was showing him how good my alignment was, now that it's fixed.

Some people find it hard to believe that I'm a rocker. Seriously, this photo was kind of difficult to accomplish successfully because I was still trying to pay attention the road and simultaneously pose for the picture... heh, it actually took us about 5 tries before I got it right.

Keith and I posing for the picture before going out to Bricktown in downtown OKC to celebrate the new year.

Keith and I again, at the canal near Bricktown. Shortly after this photo was taken, we ended up just driving back to Texas, because I was already sick, and the freezing cold air was only making me sicker. I couldn't stay out in that weather for 3 more hours...so yeah. And I had bought that beanie to help cover my ears, but it didn't work.

and this is my pup Brandy, looking completely adorable while she licks her paws.
