Randoms of 2015

So as 2015 rapidly comes to a close, I feel like I need to use this post to display all of the random photos that I've taken throughout the year. (Well, not ALL of them, at least the highlights!)

These are photos that for some reason or another, never made it to any social media platform, probably because they were just too random.  But in an odd way I feel like I should give them a purpose now, by acting as a sort of review of my year.  That being said, there are a select few that I did share, but I still wanted to include them.  I can't say that it was a particularly good or bad year... I'm leaning more towards just plain neutral.  I tried to get into fitness, exercising more and seriously keeping track of my food intake, but I won't lie, I've been slacking in that department the past couple months.  However, I'm planning to get back on track starting tomorrow.

Anyway, before I ramble off-topic, let's get started with the photos!

First off, here is a map following Route 66 across the United States, located at Route 66 State Park in Oklahoma City, OK.  My mom and I discovered this interesting park in January when I was visiting for a late Christmas celebration.

Then, in February, I finally started putting together a DIY menu planner in an attempt to prevent us going out to eat so much.  This was the start of putting it all together...

...which eventually turned into this:

Now here's a random shot of my margarita at Chili's where Jacques and I were having dinner on St. Patrick's Day in March.  If you look closely at the salt around the glass, you can see little specks of green (Jacques said it was reflecting from the lighting, but I still believe it was decorated in honor of St. Patrick's Day).  I think this is when we bought the margarita shaker in the background as well, with plans of using it to make our own mojitos.

In May, we had our own little stowaway that wouldn't leave us alone.  This cat loved Erin and would wait for her to get home from school every day.  I have to admit, it was cute.  I don't know whatever happened to that little guy.

This was taken during one of our family walks we were taking every evening, a random sunset that I stopped to capture.

I just had to include this photo because it was one of the best days of this year.  This was taken in June at BFD, which is an all-day rock concert, hosted by one of our local radio stations each year.  It was definitely the most fun I've had all year, along with the worst sunburn, as you can see by my face being the same color as our seats...

I had something else in mind when I took this picture and I wanted it to turn out much better than this.  It's a large pile of shell casings at the outdoor gun range we visited in July, which was also my first time ever at an outdoor range.

And now here's a photo of Erin about to shoot Jacques's AR, with Jacques coaching her, at the same gun range from the previous photo:

That brings us to the end of July for this next shot, at my adorable nephew's 2nd birthday party!  This was a quick shot taken just after singing "Happy Birthday" to Aidan, before he got his own piece of cake to enjoy.  My brother is holding him, with my dad smiling in the background.

And here's my favorite photo that I took of Aidan this year, when my mom and I spent the day with him, and we took him to a park that had this splashpad that he absolutely adored!  I love this photo because it captures his contagiously happy personality in the perfect way:

During that same trip, on one of the days that we weren't spending with Aidan, my mom and I took a trip out to downtown OKC, where we walked around the canal and hung out with these land runners that had taken over the entire area:

And here's my mom and I, posing in front of a pretty waterfall along the canal.

Back home now, and testing out the camera on my brand new Galaxy S6 that I got at the beginning of August.  This is a container that I use for water throughout the day.  I love that it has a lid that you can open and close, so I can also use this as a travel mug also.  Oh and it's sitting on a souvenir coaster I bought when we visited Alcatraz in February.

More testing out of the camera, with Dozer, my favorite subject. =]

And a random photo of "the Reds" sleeping the day away...

This next one was a spontaneous decision while I was out in our backyard and I caught these beautiful shades of the sunset, at the perfect moment to make the photo a hint of a silhouette also.  Silhouetted palm trees are some of my absolute favorite moments to capture:

Okay, I don't really know how to explain these next two, other than that they were taken from pure boredom.  Haha.  I was on our front porch just kinda hanging out one day and decided to take these macro-ish photos:

These next ones were taken about a week ago, after getting our Christmas tree put together and decorated, and then playing around with a setting on my phone's camera + wanting to get photos of Dozer.

And I'll end this post with a selfie taken last Thursday, with a little bit of the tree in the background:

Happy Holidays, everyone!
May your Christmas be Merry and your New Year be Happy!

(Ah, I think the anticipation for the new Star Wars movie is rubbing off on me, as that sounded slightly Yoda-ish!  Haha.)

See you all in 2016.
